Kettle O' Fish - Bama Stone Pit

Here in ATL there is one thing thats certain about our riders...we love winchin.  I know there is nothing special about us loving winching vs anybody else's love for winching,  I just wanted to make it clear.  First off its hard not to when the man himself, Adam Hart - creator of Distortion Winches, resides right down the street.  So once more, Safety First loves winching.

So in order to spotlight our love for winching we will be posting small stories with pics, and if your lucky...video, of the winching adventures we either get into or here about.  Now I wanted to have a cool name for the posts that pertain to winching so i googled "synonym location".  The first synonym that caught my eye was "kettle of fish".  So from here on out if you spot a post that starts with Kettle O' Fish, you can guarantee someone had a good time and there will be some rad pics.

So for the first Kettle O' Fish I thought it no more appropriate then to highlight Vinny's Snaps Pic Gap that I am crowing Bama Stone Pit.  So without further uhdyou....

Kettle O' Fish - Bama Stone Pit

Getting lost on the way to a rail jam is not always a bad thing. We found this spot completely on accident, and if we hadn't found it, no one would have told us about it. Apparently its been viewed, thought about, but never hit. Your guess is as good as mine to why not?

The setup is nothing more then perfect. With the shetay economy we are living in there are tons of housing developments going under. Luckily for us they started this one bass ackwards. They literally built all the small neighborhood features before one house went up, which includes this supposed to be flowing channel of small ponds and drops. My guess here is the water would be right at the bottom of the rock walls, so this would only be a 2 foot drop had it been finished. Start on grass for 15 feet, drop into the channel thats about a 50 foot or so length, drop 6 feet down and land in a pool with a liner about 3 feet deep. Land it and ride up on the bank. Easy as said...if your Vinny Knapp.

Vinny hit it a few times just to snap a few good pics of the nuclear, then headed to the rail jam. We went back the next afternoon to finish the deed. Back 3, Heel 5 and Ollie down on the skate is the drops bag o tricks currently. Like I said, no houses are in the hood, and its off the main road far enough I'd have to say there are no chances of getting kicked out. We had a few walkers interested in the festivities, probably the only traffic the street gets. I would highly suggest wearing shoes in the pond. I chose to go barefoot for the pics and had to be winched out it was so slick with muck.

Overall it gets a 100 on my scoreboard. Makes having a recovering ACL that much more of a burden.
